The korean organizing committee of ISBS 2008 is pleased to offer a wide variety of social programs in a welcome reception, cultural programs, and a Banquet, hosted by the president of Seoul National University, granting you the extended opportunities to not only be associated with other delegates but also have exceptional experiences and unforgettable memories.


Seoul National University
Seoul National University boasting arguably the most beautiful campus in Korea, the venue of the Congress, is placed at the base of the spectacular and majestic Gwanak Mountain. The tour of Seoul National University will provide you to experience our historical and cultural perspectives in one of the korean universities, as well as the spirit, culture, and history of sports in korea. To join all the programs, please sign up at the registration desk on a first-come.

Opening ceremony & Welcome reception

The Opening Ceremony, the official opening of the 2008 International Conference on Biomechanics in sports, is arranged to be held in the evening of the first day. Followed by the welcoming speech of the head of the Organizing Committee, and the representatives of each delegation, there will be a opening party on the programs that all the delegates will participate in. A short introduction will be given on how the academic activities will proceed, and then there will be naturally in change of each table's discussions of the participants.

This welcoming party is to show our warmest welcome to the delegates in attendance. Furthermore, we hope to get all the delegates acquainted with Korea and most above all, to each other. The party will be held in a relaxed and cheerful atmosphere to break the fatigue from the long flight. It is planned to be held in a seminar hall or out-doors.

- Han River Ferry Cruise
  Han River Ferry Cruise is one of the best ways to enjoy the scenery around Han River that flows through Seoul. Cool winds from the river, the surrounding scenery, which get more beautiful in the evenings, are the rewards the ferry cruise can offer you. On the cruise, you can see Han River 's beautiful scenery, the surrounding islands, the 63 Building, Namsan Tower, Jamsil's Multi Sports Complex, and other famous tourist spots.
- Downtown & Shopping
  Some of the greatest bargains can be found at Dongdaemun Market, a large area packed with small shops and big malls. Some ten or so modern clothing malls have sprung up among the long established older markets. Shops are open all night, brightly lit and playing cheerful music. Dongdaemun Market has become famous for having similar clothing to department stores at very reasonable price.

HT-1 into the Royal Family's Life of Orient, and Harmony of Nature
Trace five hundred years back to Joseon dynasty and picture yourself standing in the center of Geunjeongjeon Hall of the royal place. Gyeongbokgung Palace is built in 1394 as a primary residence for the royal family. It holds many ponds, pavilions and wooded areas containing thousand-year-old trees. On Insadong Antique Artworks Street, you can experience the harmony of antique and modern art, and cultural traditions in the midst of hectic urban life. You can also purchase various traditional handcrafts and ceramics which reflect the beat and taste of Korea.

HT-2 Feel the real lifestyle of Korean in Yongin Korean Folk Village
Go back to 19th century by visit Korean Folk Village. In the village there are common people's houses from different parts of the country, an oriental medicine house, house for the study of Chinese characters, a blacksmith's, a handicraft room, a pottery oven and a marketplace. You will also find a 99-room mansion, reflecting the luxurious life style of the yangban (aristocrat) class, and a government office. There are also traditional activities, such as farmers dance, traditional wedding ceremony, and so on.

Closing Ceremony & Banquet
The Banquet is guaranteed to be a memorable event which will send everybody home satisfied and happy. Delegates will be able to recover from all the exhaustion from the tight itinerary, and share precious moments together with their new friends. The designated theme of this event will be "Traditional dance performance," and various events such as award, sharing Farewell dinner, will take place. The acclaimed performance based on Korean traditional dance and other cultural heritage will be provided. The participation Fee is also free.
