Hans Gros New Investigator Award
The purpose of the Hans Gros New Investigator Award is to recognize new researchers and to encourage them to become productive members of the ISBS by expanding the knowledge base of sports biomechanics through study and dissemination of information.

All members of ISBS, who have completed their terminal degree (master's or doctoral) within the past two years, are eligible for consideration. Candidates must be the first author of the paper submitted and accepted for presentation at the XXV th ISBS Symposium. They must also present their paper (oral or poster) at this Symposium.

Guidelines for the Hans Gros New Investigator Award (NIA) - 2008


01) Candidates for the Hans Gros New Investigator Award (NIA) must be members of the Society and supply a confirmation of the university that they have completed their terminal degree (master¡¯s or doctoral) within the past two years.
02) Competing papers have to be submitted with respect to the guidelines of the XXV th ISBS Symposium (see Call for papers).
03) Candidates for the NIA must inform the Congress President indicating their interest in competing for the NIA. In case of online paper submission check boxes are provided for this purpose.
04) Candidates must indicate if they run either for the oral or for the poster NIA. A candidate can submit one paper per category only.
05) Candidates will be informed that the paper is considered in the NIA competition.
06) All considered papers will be provided by the local organizers to the VP of Awards for distribution to the NIA Committee consisting of the Vice President of Awards (Chair), Vice President of Conferences and Meetings, Secretary General, and other ISBS Directors or members appointed by the Chair. If any of these individuals are not in attendance or are unable to serve on the NIA Committee, replacement(s) must be appointed by the President or designee of the President. If a conflict of interest exists, a member of the NIA Committee shall be excused from evaluating the specific candidate.
07) The criteria for assessing the papers will be explicit and a Paper Evaluation Form used by all members of the NIA Committee to judge the merits of each paper.
08) Based on the first assessment process the NIA Committee pre-selects between 8 and 12 papers in each category (oral and poster) for further consideration. The selected candidates will be informed about this status by the Chair of the NIA Committee.
09) The oral presentations will be given in one or two specifically indicated NIA oral sessions scheduled early in the calendar of the symposium to provide sufficient time for the NIA Committee to evaluate the presentations. The presentation of the paper has to be given by the submitting candidate.
10) The NIA poster presentations will be indicated and scheduled early in the calendar of the symposium to provide sufficient time for the NIA Committee to evaluate the posters. The presentation of the poster has to be given by the submitting candidate.
11) Members of the NIA Committee should attend all presentations of the candidates and complete a Presentation Evaluation Form on each candidate.
12) After all presentations the NIA Committee is convened by its Chair to determine the winners based on the paper and presentation assessments.
13) Certificates for the winners ranked 1 to 3 in each category will be presented by the Chair of the NIA Committee and the President during the banquet.
14) The prize money of US$ 1000 for the winner of the oral presentations and US$ 500 for the winner of the poster presentation will be handed over to the recipients during the banquet. Additionally, the two winners will get their congress fee refunded.
